Licence agreement

What you may do with RoomCaddie, in plain English.

RoomCaddie End User Licence Agreement

The short version

You bought a licence to use RoomCaddie on your own PCs, for whatever you use the room for. Do not share the key or resell the program. What RoomCaddie launches belongs to whoever made it, not to us. We are not liable for more than you paid. Massachusetts law applies. The rest of this page says the same thing at the length lawyers expect.

1. Who this is between

This agreement is between you and Exit 2 Software LLC, a Massachusetts limited liability company ("we", "us"). RoomCaddie is our product. By installing or using RoomCaddie you accept this agreement. If you do not accept it, do not install it, and ask for a refund inside the 14 days.

2. What you get

A personal, worldwide, non-exclusive licence to install and use RoomCaddie on up to three PCs that you own or control, for any lawful purpose, for as long as you like. One licence key comes with one purchase. Settings lets you free a PC's place for another one.

3. The key

The key is how RoomCaddie knows it was bought. RoomCaddie asks for it on first launch and does not run without it; it checks the key with our store once, over the internet, and keeps it on that PC. Keep it. Do not sell it, give it away, post it, or include it in anything you distribute. A key that is refunded, or that we disable because it was shared, stops working on every PC it was used on within about a week; a key that is simply offline is never touched.

4. What you may not do

  • Sell, rent, lend or sublicense RoomCaddie or the key.
  • Copy RoomCaddie for anyone else, or put the installer somewhere for
  • other people to download.

  • Take RoomCaddie apart to rebuild it as your own product, except to the
  • extent the law where you live says we cannot forbid it.

  • Remove or hide our name, the notices or the version number.
  • Use RoomCaddie to break the law or someone else's rights.

Everything else - moving it to a new PC, backing it up, using it in a room other people use - is fine.

5. What RoomCaddie launches is not ours

RoomCaddie starts programs, games, streaming apps and websites that you already have. Each of those belongs to whoever made it and has its own licence, its own terms and its own support. We do not supply them, we have no agreement with their makers, and nothing about RoomCaddie implies one. If one of them does not run, changes, or goes away, RoomCaddie's tile for it stops working and that is not a fault in RoomCaddie.

6. Updates

Every 1.x update of RoomCaddie is included with your purchase, free. We tell you a newer version exists; we never install it for you. A future major version may be a separate purchase; the version you have keeps working either way.

7. What is inside RoomCaddie

RoomCaddie is built with open-source software. Their licences and notices are in Settings > Open-source notices inside RoomCaddie and in the file beside the program. Those licences apply to those parts; this agreement applies to the rest. RoomCaddie also relies on Microsoft's WebView2 runtime, which Windows provides under Microsoft's terms.

8. Privacy

RoomCaddie sends nothing about you or your PC to us beyond one small request: on first launch, and once a week after that, it checks your key with our store and reads our update file. That request carries the key, an identifier for the PC and the version number, nothing else. The privacy policy says exactly what stays on the PC and what does not.

9. No warranty beyond the refund

RoomCaddie is supplied as it is. We test it on the setups listed on the supported-setups page and we fix what support can reproduce, but we do not promise that it will run on every PC, with every program, without interruption or error. To the fullest extent the law allows, we make no other warranty, express or implied, including fitness for a particular purpose. If RoomCaddie does not work for you, the 14-day refund is the remedy, and after that, support.

10. Limit on what we owe

To the fullest extent the law allows, our total liability to you for anything arising from RoomCaddie or this agreement is limited to the amount you paid for it, and we are not liable for indirect or consequential loss - lost time, lost revenue, a lost evening, a lost booking, data you did not back up. RoomCaddie makes a backup before every change to your room, and that is the backup we mean.

11. Your rights stay

Nothing in sections 9 and 10, or anywhere here, takes away rights that the law where you live gives consumers and does not let us exclude. Where a law gives you more than this agreement, you have that.

12. Ending the licence

You can end it any time by uninstalling RoomCaddie. If you break section 3 or 4 and do not put it right after we ask, we may end your licence by email, and you then uninstall. We cannot and will not reach into your PC to end it for you.

13. Changes to this agreement

A new version of this agreement ships only with a new version of RoomCaddie and is described in that version's release note. The version you installed under stays the one that applies to it.

14. The law and the place

Massachusetts law governs this agreement, and disputes go to the state or federal courts in Massachusetts, except where the consumer law of your home country gives you the right to use your own courts. No arbitration clause, no class-action waiver.

15. The whole agreement

This agreement, the offer sheet, the refund policy and the privacy policy are the whole deal between you and us about RoomCaddie. If a court finds one part unenforceable, the rest stands.
