RoomCaddie - supported setups

Two honest lists, written 9/7/2026. Tested means someone has actually run it with RoomCaddie and reported back. Recognised means the setup wizard knows how to find it and build a tile for it, but nobody has run it yet. Items move from the second list to the first as testers report. Voice: RoomCaddie, "we".

Requirements

• Windows 11. (Windows 10 reached the end of its support in October 2025

and is not supported.)

• A screen RoomCaddie can fill: a projector, a TV, or a monitor. It has

been run at 4K on a projector at 300% scale and on an ordinary laptop screen.

• Nothing else. No account, no internet needed after the download (the

update check and the key check use it when it is there and shrug when it is not).

Tested

Run for real, by us or by a tester, on this list's date:

• Windows 11 desktop with a 4K projector at 300% scale (the Kennedy

Center, daily).

• Windows 11 laptop, fresh install, no golf simulator (a tester, 9/6-7).
• GSPro as the main golf program: launches, RoomCaddie comes back when

it closes, and a second tap brings it forward.

• VTrack launch monitor software, as a Microsoft Store app that starts

GSPro itself.

• Websites as tiles (BBC, ESPN, PGA Tour and others): open full screen

in RoomCaddie's own browser window; back with the hotkey.

• Windows utilities as tiles: Volume, Display, Sound devices, Task

Manager, Settings.

• Ambient screen, photo tiles, backups and restores, the export file,

upgrade-in-place installs, uninstall, and start-with-Windows.

• Microsoft Store apps. The scan offers every Store app on the PC

(Windows' own apps folded under one row); the ones RoomCaddie knows by name - Netflix, Prime Video, Apple TV, Spotify, Disney+ and the rest of the catalog - carry their proper names and artwork. Tested 9/7 with four of them, two third-party apps among them: each opened on the room's screen, maximized, whether it was already running or not. RoomCaddie cannot watch a Store app close, so its tile stays until you press the hotkey.

• Where a launched program's window lands (9/7): on the room's screen,

maximized - a program that had been left half-size or on another monitor comes to the projector. Left alone: a program already filling the screen, a game or program that runs its own full-screen window, and the main golf program.

• Steam games, two so far (9/7). Games behave differently. A game that

runs in a borderless window lets Ctrl+Alt+S through: the home screen comes back with the game running behind it. A game that takes the screen in an exclusive full-screen mode may keep the whole keyboard while it runs, so Ctrl+Alt+S and Alt+F4 do nothing until you leave the game through its own menu (Esc, then quit) or Ctrl+Alt+Delete; a windowed or borderless mode in the game's own settings lets the hotkey through. That is the game's behaviour, not RoomCaddie's. RoomCaddie stays on its own screen through a game's resolution change and is back when the game closes. Steam games are launched through Steam; the home screen comes back when you press the hotkey, not when the game closes.

Recognised, not yet tested

The wizard finds these and builds tiles; the launch has not been proven by a tester yet:

• Other Steam games beyond the two above.
• Desktop Spotify.
• Other golf software the wizard recognises by its folder or program

name: Awesome Golf, Drills, and others in the catalog. Only GSPro can be the "main program" that brings the home screen back when it closes; the rest stay on screen until you press the hotkey.

• Any program at all, by browsing to it in the editor.

Not supported

• Windows 10 or earlier, macOS, Linux, tablets, phones.
• More than one screen at a time (RoomCaddie fills one).
• A phone as a remote control.
• Copy protection, streaming rights, or anything inside the programs and

sites RoomCaddie opens: those are theirs, not ours.

• Rooms edited by hand in the room file (the editor and the backups are

the supported way; see the support scope).
