RoomCaddie quick start

From download to a working room screen, step by step. The same text is on roomcaddie.com and under Settings > Quick start inside RoomCaddie.

  1. Download RoomCaddie Setup from roomcaddie.com and double-click it. It installs for your Windows user only; no administrator prompt. If Windows shows a blue "protected your PC" screen, choose More info, then Run anyway (RoomCaddie 1.0 is not yet signed; a signed installer comes with an update).
  1. Open RoomCaddie from the Start Menu or the desktop shortcut. It fills the screen. From now on it starts by itself when you sign in to Windows (Settings > Start with Windows turns that off).
  1. The setup wizard runs the first time. It scans your PC for the programs you already have (your golf simulator, Steam games, streaming apps, the sites you use) and asks what your room is for. Tick what you want. Nothing is added that you did not tick. Give the room a name. When you finish, you land in the editor with your screen already built.
  1. Look at your screen. Press "Done editing" and the home screen is what the room shows: big tiles, one tap each. A tile with a folder icon opens more tiles.
  1. Tap a tile. The program starts full screen. RoomCaddie waits behind it. When your golf program closes, the home screen comes back on its own; for everything else, press the shortcut in the next step.
  1. Come back early. Press Ctrl+Alt+S and RoomCaddie comes to the front with the program still running behind it, shown as a chip on the session bar. Tap the chip to go back to it.
  1. Change anything. Press the pencil (✎) in the corner of the home screen to open the editor: add a tile from the scan, from a website address, or by browsing to a program; rename; pick artwork or one of your own pictures; change the theme. Every change is saved as you make it and a backup is taken before each one.
  1. Settings live at the top of the editor: your message under the room name, the ambient screen (what shows when the room is idle), backups, the license key, updates, support info, and the way out (Exit).
  1. Get help. Settings > Support info > Copy support info, paste it into an email to support@roomcaddie.com with what you saw. Your name, folder paths and key are removed before it leaves your PC. What support covers is on the support page.
  1. Not for you? Fourteen days, no questions: reply to your purchase email and ask for the refund.
